Planning a journey means trusting me with personal details, and I take that trust seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information Tern & Meridian collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have.
Tern & Meridian is a bespoke travel advisory owned and operated by Piper Eskridge, an independent contractor affiliated with Christopherson Andavo Travel ("Tern & Meridian," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy covers ternandmeridian.com, The Field Journal newsletter, the Tern & Meridian Substack, our social media pages, inquiry forms, and all travel planning services (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to this policy and to our Terms of Use.
Information We Collect
Information you share with us. Depending on how you use the Services, this may include:
Contact details: name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
Travel planning details: destinations, dates, budget, travel style, interests, and the names of everyone in your party.
Booking details: dates of birth, passport information, frequent traveler and loyalty numbers, and emergency contacts, as required by Suppliers.
Sensitive details you choose to share: dietary needs, allergies, health, mobility, or accessibility needs, shared so your journey can be designed safely around them.
Payment information: processed securely by third-party payment processors or directly by Suppliers. Tern & Meridian does not store full card numbers.
Messages and feedback: emails, form submissions, reviews, testimonials, and photos you send us.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our website platform and analytics tools may collect your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, time spent on the Site, and the site that referred you. See Cookies and Analytics below for details.
Information from others. A travel companion may share your details when booking a trip that includes you, and Suppliers may share booking confirmations and updates with us.
How We Use Your Information

Respond to inquiries and schedule consultations.
Design your itinerary and make reservations with Suppliers.
Process payments and manage your bookings, changes, and cancellations.
Share know-before-you-go details, updates, and important travel notices.
Send The Field Journal and other updates you subscribe to.
Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it.
Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations and protect our rights.
How We Share Your Information
Tern & Meridian does not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to plan and deliver your journey and run our business:
Suppliers: airlines, hotels, lodges, cruise and expedition lines, tour operators, destination management companies, and guides receive the details needed to confirm and deliver your reservations. Their own privacy policies govern how they use it.
Our host agency and consortium: Christopherson Andavo Travel and Virtuoso receive booking information for administration, compliance, and to provide client amenities and perks.
Service providers: trusted companies that help run our business, such as our website host (Squarespace), email and newsletter platforms (including Substack), payment processors (Stripe), itinerary and client management tools (Travefy), and file storage (Google Workspace), under their own privacy and security commitments.
Travel insurance providers: when you ask for help comparing or purchasing coverage.
Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, to respond to valid requests from authorities, to protect the rights and safety of travelers or others, or in connection with a sale or transfer of the business.
Travel often involves Suppliers in other countries, so your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws.
Cookies and Analytics
The Site is hosted on Squarespace, which uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site running, remember your preferences, and provide visitor analytics. You can read more in Squarespace's Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Essential cookies keep the Site secure and working properly.
Analytics cookies show us, in aggregate, which pages visitors enjoy and how they found the Site.
Social media features, such as embedded Instagram posts or share buttons, may let those platforms collect information according to their own policies.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.
Newsletters and Email
When you subscribe to The Field Journal or the Tern & Meridian Substack, your email address and name are stored by the platform that sends it. Substack subscriptions are also governed by Substack's Privacy Policy. These platforms may report whether an email was opened or a link was clicked so we can see which stories resonate.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email or by contacting us. Clients will still receive messages needed to manage an active booking.
How Long We Keep It and How We Protect It
Retention. We keep your information for as long as needed to plan and support your travel, maintain our client relationship, and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Sensitive details such as passport information are kept only as long as needed for your bookings, unless you ask us to save them for future trips.
Security. We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including secure, password-protected platforms and limited access. Please send passport and other sensitive details only through the secure method we provide rather than regular email or social media messages. Every method of storage and transmission carries some risk, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices and Rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
Delete your information, except where we must keep it to complete an active booking or meet legal obligations.
Stop sending you marketing emails.
To make a request, email piper@ternandmeridian.com. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on it and will respond within 30 days. Residents of some states, such as California, may have additional rights under their state's privacy laws, and we will honor requests made under those laws. We will never treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights.
Children, Other Sites, Updates, and Contact
Children's privacy. The Services are intended for adults. We collect information about children under 18 only when a parent or guardian provides it to book travel on their behalf, and we use it only for that purpose.
Other websites. The Services link to outside websites, including Suppliers, Substack, and social media platforms. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them, and we encourage you to review them.
Updates to this policy. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the date below will reflect the latest version.
